Excel
Connect Excel with a Microsoft work or school account.
Excel uses Microsoft Graph OAuth, the same app registration as Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive. If it is missing from the catalog, this install has not set the Microsoft Graph app.
Connect
- Open Connected tools → Excel → Connect.
- Choose Personal or Workspace.
- Click Continue to Microsoft Excel and approve access.
Excel needs a Microsoft work or school account. Microsoft does not offer its Excel API for workbooks in a personal OneDrive; for those, read the file with the OneDrive tool. The Azure app needs the delegated Files.ReadWrite.All permission, the same one OneDrive asks for.
What Stedia can do
- Find workbooks: search your OneDrive, SharePoint and files shared with you by name or content, or list the most recently changed workbooks you can open.
- Get workbook: see a workbook's worksheets, how much of each holds data, and its tables with their columns.
- Read cells: read a range, a whole worksheet or a table, as values or as the formulas behind them. Dates and times come back as ISO text, such as 2026-10-18 or 2026-10-18 14:30. Durations keep the sheet's own text.
- Write cells: overwrite cells from a starting cell on, with values or formulas.
- Append rows: add rows below the last row that holds data, without touching anything above.
- Add table rows: add rows to an Excel table. The table grows and fills in its formula columns.
- Clear cells: empty a range but keep the rows and their formatting.
- Delete rows: remove whole rows, so everything below moves up.
- Create workbook: start a new workbook with a header row in your OneDrive, or in a SharePoint library that already holds a workbook Stedia found.
- Add worksheet: add a worksheet to a workbook that already exists.
Give Stedia the link to a workbook, or let it find the workbook by name.
Example prompts
Type one into a chat, or use it as a schedule's task.
- "Open the workbook 'Offene Posten 2026' and list every invoice older than 30 days."
- "Add a row to the table 'Fahrten' in my mileage log: today, Linz, 182 km."
- "Create a workbook 'Leads Messe' in the folder 'Vertrieb' with the columns Date, Company, Contact and Notes."
Approvals
Reading runs without a prompt: Find workbooks, Get workbook and Read cells. Everything that changes a workbook asks first: create, add worksheet, write, append, add table rows, clear and delete.
Append rows is the one write you can undo from the chat afterwards, for 15 minutes. Delete rows cannot be undone, and you cannot add it to an action preset.
Limits
- Only
.xlsxworkbooks. An.xlsor.csvfile can still be read with the OneDrive or SharePoint tool. - One read returns up to 2,000 cells and 200 columns. Stedia reads a taller range in parts and stops at the last row that holds data.
- Text that looks like a number, a date or a formula is read the way Excel reads typing:
01067becomes1067. Ask Stedia to keep such a value as text. - One write or append takes up to 1,000 rows of up to 100 cells each.
- Formulas use English function names, such as
=SUM(B2:B9). Excel shows them in your language. - A new workbook starts with values only. Stedia adds formulas with Write cells afterwards.
